Window tinting near Tyndall AFB

We are about fifteen miles west of the gate on 98, and a steady share of our work arrives on base orders. Which means we see the same situation more often than most shops do, and it is worth writing down.

You PCS in with a car that was tinted at your last duty station, perfectly legally, and here it is a problem. That is not bad luck and it is not usually a bad installer. States set the limit differently, and more importantly Florida measures the finished window rather than the film.

Your glass is already between 70 and 80 percent light transmission before anything goes on it, and the film and the glass multiply. So a 35% film, legal in plenty of states on the front doors, lands near 26% here and misses Florida's 28% front limit. The arithmetic is on this page if you want to see it.

The practical version: bring it by, we put a meter on it, and you know in a minute whether you are over. If you are, we strip and redo it to something that clears. If you are not, we tell you that and you have lost nothing but the drive.

Short-notice work before a move

Orders do not wait for an appointment book. If you are trying to get a vehicle sorted before a move, say so when you call and we will tell you honestly whether we can fit it rather than booking you in and hoping. Same for a car that has just arrived on a transporter and needs the old film off before anything new goes on.

Prices

The whole card is published, including old film removal, which on a stripped-and-redone car is usually the line people were not expecting. Nothing moves depending on who is asking.
